The Ford MT82 or Getrag 6MTI500 6-speed manual transmission has been produced since 2010 and is used in the Mustang sports coupe and Ranger T6 pickup truck, popular in the US market. A separate version of this transmission is available for commercial vehicles such as the Transit minibus.

Disadvantages of the Ford MT82 gearbox
- The first transmissions were often criticized for their difficulty shifting at high revs;
- Most owners found relief by replacing the clutch with an aftermarket version;
- For some, the problem only resolved after installing a different shift handle;
- There were also complaints about weak synchronizers, shift forks, and locking pins;
- There were so many failures that owners even filed a class action lawsuit against Ford;
- In 2018, an updated version of this transmission, designated MT82-D4, was released;
- Shifting became much better, but reliability of the transmission remained unchanged.
