Disadvantages of the Ford 8F35 gearbox
- The transmission has weak planetary gear sets and a short service life;
- With vigorous driving, the planetary gear set can simply fail after 100,000 km;
- Oil leaks along the axle shafts and through the electrical connector are quite common;
- Some owners have reported thumping noises when removing the automatic transmission from park, and even jamming of the mechanism;
- Remaining issues are related to control unit glitches and were resolved with firmware updates.
