Gearbox Ford IB6

The Ford IB6 or Getrag 6MTT250 6-speed manual transmission has been produced since 2010 and is used in many models paired with the EcoBoost turbo engine and small-capacity diesel engines. This transmission is now gradually being replaced by a more powerful version, the B6 Plus.

Disadvantages of the Ford IB6 gearbox

  • Despite its light weight and compact design, this is a very reliable manual transmission;
  • The only issue is that due to the small amount of lubricant, this transmission is prone to leaks;
  • All complaints about synchronizer noise and the like are caused by low oil levels;
  • Worn out input shaft bearings or reverse gear failure are also common;
  • Also, all transmission versions are equipped with a dual-mass flywheel, which isn’t the most durable.
