Gearbox Ford M66

The Ford M66 6-speed manual transmission was produced in Germany from 2002 to 2024 and was installed in many Land Rover, Volvo models, but is best known for its use in the Ford Focus ST. This transmission, developed by Getrag, was paired with engines up to 450 Nm.

Disadvantages of the Ford M66 gearbox

  • This is a very reliable and durable manual transmission, but it is installed with particularly powerful engines;
  • Therefore, the gear selector mechanism often wears out around 100,000-150,000 km;
  • And the difficulty shifting is especially noticeable in winter;
  • After 200,000 km, the bearings may hum and the dual-mass flywheel may knock;
  • Also, keep an eye on the oil level; leaks are common, and the transmission is wary of a drop in level.
