Gearbox Ford MMT6

The Ford MMT6 6-speed manual transmission has been produced at the Cologne plant since 2000 and is installed in many front- and all-wheel-drive models with engines up to 400 Nm. This transmission was developed by Getrag and is available in a VMT6 version for minibuses.

Disadvantages of the Ford MMT6 gearbox

  • This is a reliable, but rather complex three-shaft manual transmission;
  • At approximately 100,000 to 150,000 km, the gearshift mechanism begins to wear out significantly;
  • Then, shifting difficulties begin, especially noticeable in winter;
  • At high mileage, the synchronizers in the first two gears often wear out;
  • This manual transmission is also equipped with a dual-mass flywheel, which is not the most durable.
