Disadvantages of the Ford 8F24 gearbox
- This transmission hasn’t been in production long enough to accumulate breakdown statistics;
- So far, the main complaints are related to hard shifting and are resolved by firmware updates;
- Several cases of parking mechanism failure can be found on specialized forums;
- Remaining automatic transmission problems are usually caused by electrical failures or lubricant leaks;
- A large-scale recall campaign was also conducted to replace the SOWC clutch and filters.
