- Mercury Monterey 1 (V229) in 2003 – 2006.
Disadvantages of the Ford 4F50 gearbox
- This automatic transmission is prone to overheating; it’s recommended to use an additional radiator;
- Usually, everyone complains about uncomfortable shifting due to problems with the valve body;
- The plungers, solenoids, and separator plate in the valve body wear out quickly;
- Oil leaks are common here due to wear of the torque converter bushing;
- The brake band and output speed sensor are also considered weak points in automatic transmissions.
