Disadvantages of the Ford 4F27 gearbox

  • The transmission is considered easy to repair; many operations can be performed without removing it;
  • Most transmission problems are related in one way or another to the rear cover of the automatic transmission;
  • Wear of the cover support seat causes a drop in oil pressure;
  • A drop in oil pressure leads to slippage and wear of the clutches;
  • Oil seals, rubber-coated pistons, and brake bands have a low service life.
