Disadvantages of the GM 4T65 gearbox

  • This automatic transmission is used with powerful units, and the torque converter clutch wears out quickly;
  • The solenoids then become clogged, oil pressure drops, and the clutches begin to burn;
  • The clutch drums may also require replacement due to wear of the Teflon rings;
  • The bearings are considered a weak point of the transmission; they are often replaced before 200,000 km;
  • This is especially true for differential bearings in all-wheel drive versions of the automatic transmission;
  • The petal-type oil pump is very sensitive to long-term driving at high speeds;
  • At high mileage, the bushings often wear out and the drive chain stretches.
