Gearbox Getrag 7DCT400

The Getrag 7DCT400 7-speed preselective robotic transmission has been produced by the company since 2021 and is installed in front- and all-wheel-drive models from BMW and Mini under the designation GD7Y40FG. This transmission is also widely used in Chinese cars from Chery, Exeed, and Hongqi.

Disadvantages of the Getrag 7DCT400 gearbox

  • This preselective robotic transmission is new, and its failure rates are minimal;
  • On specialized forums, there are complaints only about jerking and stumbling, but firmware usually helps;
  • The robotic transmission clutch unit lasts a long time, but the cost of replacing it will not please many;
  • Also, on all-wheel drive versions, you need to monitor the condition of the splined connections;
  • But a big advantage of this transmission is its own cooling circuit.
