Gearbox Jatco JF506E

The Jatco JF506E 5-speed automatic transmission was produced in Japan from 1999 to 2010 and was installed in Nissan as the RE5F01A, Ford as the 5F31J, Mazda as the JA5A-EL, and VW as the 09A and 09B. The transmission was coupled with engines up to 3.5 liters in displacement and 350 Nm of torque.

Disadvantages of the Jatco JF506E gearbox

  • During the first few years of production, the solenoids quickly failed, causing jerking;
  • Even with the slightest overheating, the automatic transmission begins to shift very harshly;
  • The transmission’s weak point is considered to be the oil pressure regulator in the valve body;
  • Rarely, the High piston drum, as well as the Low/Rev drum, can fail;
  • As for the electrical components in the transmission, only the speed sensors are regularly replaced.
