The Jatco JR404E or RE4R03A 4-speed automatic transmission was produced since 1990 and was installed in the most powerful Nissan models, including SUVs, until 2013. This most robust transmission in the series is capable of handling 450 Nm of engine torque.

Disadvantages of the Jatco JR404E gearbox
- The transmission has no weak points, and breakdowns occur due to natural wear and tear;
- Repairs are usually limited to replacing the oil, gaskets, bushings, and seals;
- At high mileage, the clutches and brake bands may require replacement.
