The Jatco RL3F01A 3-speed automatic transmission was introduced in 1983 and was essentially Nissan’s first transmission with a positive torque converter lockup. It was installed on front-wheel drive vehicles with engines up to 1.8 liters and 150 Nm of torque.

- Nissan Violet 3 (T11) in 1983 – 1986.
Disadvantages of the Jatco RL3F01A gearbox
- A perfectly reliable automatic transmission often experiences oil starvation due to leaks;
- Lubricant leaks from this transmission due to dried-out gaskets and seals.
