Disadvantages of the Opel F40 gearbox
- This is a very reliable manual transmission and, in most cases, it doesn’t cause any problems;
- The main thing is to change the oil frequently and monitor its level, as leaks do occur;
- When the oil level drops, the synchronizers begin to wear out very quickly;
- There have been cases of gears shearing during abrupt shifting at high speed;
- At high mileage, the transmission may hum due to wear of the input shaft bearing.
