The Toyota A131L 3-speed automatic transmission was assembled by the company from 1983 to 2002 and was installed only on American and Canadian versions of the popular Corolla model. This transmission was mated to power units with no more than 150 Nm of torque.

- Toyota Corolla 5 (E80) in 1983 – 1987; Corolla 6 (E90) in 1987 – 1992; Corolla 7 (E100) in 1991 – 2002; Corolla 8 (E110) in 1995 – 2002.
Disadvantages of the Toyota A131L gearbox
- One of the most reliable automatic transmissions in the world rarely breaks down and only on long runs.
- Most often, worn out clutches, bushings or brake bands are replaced.
- The main reason for the leak here is the rubber of the gaskets and seals, which have become hardened from time to time.
