Disadvantages of the Toyota A241H gearbox
- The only weak point of this gearbox is a broken wire in the solenoid coil;
- All the failures described below occur only after 200,000 – 250,000 km;
- Over time the torque converter lockup clutch wears out critically;
- Its wear debris gets into the valve body and jerking appears when shifting;
- Shaft vibrations then destroy the oil pump bushing and lubricant leaks appear;
- At very high mileage the rear output shaft bearing may break up;
- The shaft then goes out of alignment, which damages the planetary gearset.
