The Toyota A240E 4-speed automatic transmission was produced from 1984 to 1989 in Japan and is found mainly on the MR2 coupe with a 1.6-liter turbo engine and 186 Nm of torque. This transmission is electronically controlled, but there is also a hydraulic version of the A240L.
This series includes: A140, A240, A340, A440, A540.

Disadvantages of the Toyota A240E gearbox
- This automatic transmission is very reliable and up to 200,000 km only leaks of the pump seal occur.
- If you regularly change the lubricant, the gearbox will last until it is completely worn out.
- Otherwise, shocks will soon appear due to solenoids clogged with dirt.
