The Toyota A248E 4-speed automatic transmission was assembled in Japan from 2000 to 2004 and was installed on the Noah and Voxy minivans together with the 2.0-liter 1AZ-FSE power unit. All-wheel drive versions of these models received the similar A248F automatic transmission.

Using
The transmission was installed on:
- Toyota Nadia 1 (XN10) in 2000 – 2003;
- Toyota Noah 1 (R60) in 2001 – 2004;
- Toyota Voxy 1 (R60) in 2001 – 2004.
Disadvantages of the Toyota A248E gearbox
- This is a fairly reliable automatic transmission and problems occur only at high mileage;
- It all starts with critical wear of the torque converter lockup clutch;
- Its wear debris then seeps into the valve body and the gearbox starts jerking;
- Next, shaft vibrations destroy the oil pump bushing and lubricant leaks appear;
- After 250,000 km the rear output shaft bearing may also break up;
- The shaft then goes out of alignment and the planetary gearset simply falls apart;
- The broken wire in the solenoid coil, typical of the A-series, also occurs here.
