The ZF CFT30 or Ecotronic continuously variable transmission was produced in the USA from 2004 to 2007 and was installed on a number of Ford or Mercury models for the local automotive market. The transmission is designed for engines up to 3.0 liters, so the drive here is in the form of a pulling chain.
CVT ZF: CFT23, CFT30.

Disadvantages of the ZF CFT30 gearbox
- The reliability of the transmission is low, as it was installed on large and powerful models.
- At about 150 thousand km, critical wear of the belt or cones occurred in the gearbox.
- The most aggressive drivers periodically encountered broken shaft iron.
