Disadvantages of the Chrysler 31TH gearbox
- This is a simple and reliable automatic transmission, and breakdowns will only occur due to wear;
- A typical repair is an overhaul with replacement of the gasket and seal kit;
- If repairs are delayed, the worn-out clutch packs will need to be replaced;
- Also, during an overhaul, it is often necessary to replace the brake bands and the reverse drum;
- Weak points include the centrifugal adjuster and the overrunning clutch separator.
