The Ford MTX75 5-speed manual transmission has been produced at the American company’s factories since 1992 and is installed in virtually all of the most popular models, such as the Focus, Mondeo, C-Max. A reinforced version of this manual transmission was also available for the sporty all-wheel-drive RS models.

Disadvantages of the Ford MTX75 gearbox
- This is a very reliable manual transmission, and it has literally a couple of weak points;
- First of all, it’s worth noting the short-lived input shaft bearing;
- Secondly, the oil seals are constantly leaking, which is very dangerous for the transmission;
- After all, any drop in oil level leads to wear on the shafts and gear rims;
- Also, many transmission versions are equipped with a dual-mass flywheel, which isn’t the most durable.
