Disadvantages of the GM 6L45 gearbox
- A known weak point of this automatic transmission is the torque converter and its hub;
- With an active owner, the torque converter clutches quickly wear out and clog the mechatronics;
- Then, due to a drop in pressure, the clutches in the transmission burn out and even the drums burst;
- The petal-type oil pump is very sensitive to long-term driving at high speeds;
- The control unit is sensitive to high temperatures and often fails when the automatic transmission overheats.
