Gearbox Opel F23

The F23 5-speed manual transmission was produced at Getrag from 1998 to 2011 and was installed in Opel models such as the Astra, Vectra, and Zafira with engines up to 230 Nm of torque. This transmission was also installed in American cars such as Pontiac, Saturn, and Chevrolet.

Disadvantages of the Opel F23 gearbox

  • This is a reliable manual transmission, and the only complaint often made is difficulty shifting;
  • The cause of the manual transmission lever sticking is wear on the plastic sleeve and the gearshift sleeve;
  • A loose gear selector mechanism can also be the culprit;
  • After 200,000 km, the input shaft bearings often start to hum;
  • To eliminate transmission noise, add more than 2 liters of oil to the transmission.
