Gearbox Toyota A350E

The Toyota A350E 5-speed automatic transmission was produced only from 1991 to 1999 and was installed on the Crown and Lexus GS300 sedans together with the 3.0-liter inline-six 2JZ-GE. In the Aisin range this gearbox is known under the index AW30-50LE.

The transmission was installed on:

  • Lexus GS300 1 (S140) (as AW30-50LE) in 1995 – 1997;
  • Toyota Crown 9 (S140) in 1991 – 1995;
  • Toyota Crown 10 (S150) in 1995 – 1999.

Disadvantages of the Toyota A350E gearbox

  • This is a very rare automatic gearbox and finding a donor unit is quite difficult;
  • But there are no reliability problems here and failures occur only at high mileage;
  • It all starts with critical wear of the torque converter lockup clutch;
  • Its wear debris clogs the solenoids and jerking appears when shifting;
  • Next, heavy shaft vibrations appear and they destroy the oil pump bushing.
