Disadvantages of the VW 01P gearbox
- This transmission is considered to be quite successful and breaks down only at high mileage.
- Most often, solenoids are cleaned or replaced, as well as their unreliable wiring.
- This gearbox is very afraid of overheating; the rubber-coated pistons can melt.
- On the electrical side, input and output speed sensors often fail.
- In automatic transmissions older than 10 years, the overrunning clutch separator is destroyed due to aging of the plastic.
