Disadvantages of the VW DQ400e gearbox

  • In the first years of production, the gearbox often fell into emergency mode due to various errors.
  • Firmware usually did not help and dealers replaced the mechatronics board under warranty.
  • At the moment, everything has returned to normal and there are much fewer complaints about this transmission.
  • The gearbox does not tolerate sudden starts, which greatly reduces the life of the differential.
  • Change the lubricant regularly or the solenoids will become clogged with clutch wear products.

The DSG gearbox has two drive shafts and, accordingly, two “Final Drive Ratios” or, as some say, “Main Gear Ratio” or “Main Pair Gear Ratio”.
