Disadvantages of the VW DQ400e gearbox

  • In the early years of production, the robotic transmission often went into emergency mode due to various errors;
  • Firmware updates usually didn’t help, and dealers replaced the mechatronics board under warranty;
  • The mechatronics mesh filters often tore, and pieces of them blocked the valves;
  • The K0 clutch shaft seal also wore out, causing a drop in pressure;
  • After the 2019 update, such problems are almost never encountered;
  • Now, most complaints on forums are related to electrical issues, such as sensor failure;
  • The lubricant also needs to be updated frequently, otherwise the solenoids will become clogged with wear debris.
