Disadvantages of the VW ML351 gearbox
- This is a fairly reliable manual transmission, but under heavy use it can cause problems;
- Excessively vigorous driving significantly reduces the life of the first-gear synchronizers;
- And with frequent use with a trailer, the shaft bearings can start to hum by 150,000 km;
- The expensive dual-mass flywheel often requires replacement by 200,000 km;
- It’s also worth noting that this is a rare manual transmission.
