Gearbox Aisin AW30-40LS

The 4-speed automatic transmission Aisin 30-40LS was produced in Japan from 1983 to 2019 and was installed on rear-wheel drive models such as Toyota Aristo, Mark II, Chaser under the symbol A340E. There is also an all-wheel drive version for Tundra, Tacoma and Land Cruiser under the symbol A340F.

Disadvantages of the AW30-40LS gearbox

  • This is a fairly reliable and durable automatic transmission and has no reliability problems;
  • But if it is overly active, the torque converter locking clutch can quickly wear out;
  • And then the valve body becomes clogged with wear products and the gearbox begins to push;
  • Further, due to shaft vibrations, the oil pump bushing breaks and oil leaks appear;
  • The weak points of this automatic transmission also include speed sensors and selector position sensors.
