Gearbox Jatco JF404E

The Jatco JF404E 4-speed automatic transmission was introduced in 2000 and, in addition to Nissan vehicles, was installed on many compact VAG models under the 001 index. The transmission is designed for engines from 1.3 to 1.6 liters with a torque of 150 Nm.

Disadvantages of the Jatco JF404E gearbox

  • This automatic transmission is reliable, and all problems are related to contamination of the lubricant by wear products;
  • Typically, repairs involve replacing the oil and clutch of the torque converter;
  • In advanced cases, cleaning the solenoids and channels of the valve body will be necessary;
  • The line pressure solenoid valve must be replaced periodically;
  • The weak point here is the rear cover of the transmission; it breaks down after 200,000 km.
