Using

The transmission was installed on:

  • Toyota Chaser 6 (X100) in 1998 – 2001;
  • Toyota Cresta 5 (X100) in 1998 – 1999;
  • Toyota Mark II 8 (X100) in 1998 – 2000.

Disadvantages of the Toyota A651E gearbox

  • This automatic transmission is rare and finding a donor unit is quite difficult;
  • But there are no reliability problems here and failures occur only at high mileage;
  • By around 250,000 km the torque converter lockup clutch wears out;
  • Its wear debris then clogs the solenoids and the gearbox starts jerking;
  • Shaft vibrations appear next, and they destroy the oil pump bushing.
