Disadvantages of the VW AL552 gearbox
- This is a completely reliable automatic transmission, and breakdowns occur only at high mileage.
- When the lubricant is changed infrequently, the valve body becomes clogged with products from wear of the clutches.
- Then shocks or jerks appear, and when the torque converter clutch wears out, vibrations also appear.
- Then, due to strong vibrations of the shaft, the oil pump bearing simply breaks.
- This automatic transmission is also known for leaks, most often along the sump or cooling pipes.
