Disadvantages of the VW AL952 gearbox
- This is a very strong automatic transmission, but it is combined with particularly powerful power units.
- During active driving, the torque converter locking clutch wears out quite quickly here.
- Then the valve body becomes clogged with wear products, so change the oil more often.
- A worn torque converter clutch causes vibrations, breaking the oil pump bearing.
- Other problems are associated with lubricant leaks, especially in the plastic pan.
