Gearbox Volkswagen AL952

The VW AL952 8-speed automatic transmission has been assembled at the concern’s plant since 2016 and is installed on the most powerful modifications of Audi, Bentley, Porsche and Volkswagen under the symbol 0D6. This automatic transmission is a variation of the ZF 8HP95A automatic transmission, known from luxury class models.

AL-8 family: AL450, AL550, AL551, AL552, AL951, AL952, AL1000.

Disadvantages of the VW AL952 gearbox

  • This is a very strong automatic transmission, but it is combined with particularly powerful power units.
  • During active driving, the torque converter locking clutch wears out quite quickly here.
  • Then the valve body becomes clogged with wear products, so change the oil more often.
  • A worn torque converter clutch causes vibrations, breaking the oil pump bearing.
  • Other problems are associated with lubricant leaks, especially in the plastic pan.
