Disadvantages of the VW AL1000 gearbox

  • This is a very durable automatic transmission and breakdowns occur only with rare oil changes.
  • When driving frequently in traffic jams, the lubricant in this transmission quickly ages and becomes dirty.
  • Then the solenoids in the valve body become clogged and shocks appear when switching.
  • The gearbox also doesn’t like overheating, so keep the cooling system clean.
