The Honda S4XA 4-speed automatic transmission was produced at a Japanese plant from 1996 to 1999 and was installed in the first Stepwgn before the facelift, paired with the 2.0-liter B20B engine. After the model update, it was replaced by an electronically controlled transmission with the SKNA designation.
4-speed automatic transmissions: B7VA, MCJA, MGPA, S4TA, S4XA, SLXA.

Using
The transmission was installed on:
- Honda Orthia 1 (EL) in 1996 – 1999;
- Honda S-MX 1 (RH) in 1996 – 1999;
- Honda Stepwgn 1 (RF) in 1996 – 1999.
Disadvantages of the Honda S4XA gearbox
- This is a reliable automatic transmission, but only if the oil and filter are changed every 60,000 km;
- Dirty oil can cause the solenoids and valve body passages to wear out quickly;
- It’s advisable to replace the torque converter clutch approximately every 200,000 km;
- Because wear debris clogs the oil passages and causes the oil pressure to drop;
- Other weak points in automatic transmissions include the overrunning clutch and the selector position sensor.
