Using

The transmission was installed on:

  • Honda Orthia 1 (EL) in 1996 – 1999;
  • Honda S-MX 1 (RH) in 1996 – 1999;
  • Honda Stepwgn 1 (RF) in 1996 – 1999.

Disadvantages of the Honda S4XA gearbox

  • This is a reliable automatic transmission, but only if the oil and filter are changed every 60,000 km;
  • Dirty oil can cause the solenoids and valve body passages to wear out quickly;
  • It’s advisable to replace the torque converter clutch approximately every 200,000 km;
  • Because wear debris clogs the oil passages and causes the oil pressure to drop;
  • Other weak points in automatic transmissions include the overrunning clutch and the selector position sensor.
