The Honda SP5A 5-speed automatic transmission was assembled by Honda from 2008 to 2014 and was installed only on the American version of the second-generation Fit, paired with the L15A engine. During the early years of this model’s production, a similar automatic transmission with the SMMA designation was installed.
5-speed automatic transmissions: B7WA, MCTA, MGHA, MZHA, PN3A, SPCA, SP5A.

Using
The transmission was installed on:
- Honda Fit 2 (GE) in 2008 – 2014.
Disadvantages of the Honda SP5A gearbox
- If you change the oil and filter every 60,000 km, the automatic transmission will last 300,000 km or more;
- Dirty lubricant in the transmission quickly wears out the solenoids and valve body channels;
- This automatic transmission is very sensitive to sudden starts, and the third gear drum cannot withstand it;
- At high mileage, the pressure regulator bushing often wears out;
- The bearings in the rear cover and the overrunning clutch are also considered weak points in the transmission.
